Abstract

The economic changes in the recent period reflected negatively on the real incomes of individuals and the production rates of the vegetables group in Egypt, which has led to a decrease in the consumption per capita.so, the research aimed to identify the difference in expenditures for the Egyptian consumer.
The most results:
1- The consumption has decreased by an annual amount greater than it in the production of vegetables in Egypt, may due to the high levels of their prices.
2- The percentage of urban spending on vegetables is lower than in other food groups, , due to the different levels of income and food patterns in urban areas, and the availability of vegetables at lower prices in the urban areas.
3- Decreased elasticity of expenditure on vegetables in both urban and rural areas, which appears to be necessary commodities.
4- The decrease in elasticity of expenditure of vegetables in urban areas, and its increase in the countryside in small proportions between the years (2018), (2020), may be due to the increase in the prices of other food groups at a greater rate than the vegetables, and the higher incomes in urban than in the rural, and also to the decrease in the average share of the individual of it.
