Quality of Agricultural extension services provided to farmers in some villages of Beheira Governorate

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the level of Quality of Agricultural extension services provided to farmers in Beheira Governorate, Data were collected by using a personal interview questionnaire during January and February 2022, for a systematic random sample of 367 respondents representing 4.8% of the total number of 7624 respondents. Frequencies, percentages, arithmetic mean, median, standard deviation, relative weight, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient were used for data presentation and analysis. The results revealed that: Level of extension quality introduced to farmers was low according to 12.5% of respondent's viewpoints, moderate according viewpoints of 50.3%, and high for about 37.2% of respondents. The results showed that the level of extension service quality introduced to farmers for each dimension separately was safeness (assurance), reliability, responsiveness, tangibility, and empathy with a relative weight of 0.95, 0.92, 0.90, 0.90, and 0.86 respectively. The Significant relationships at 0.01&0.05 were found between degree of the extension service quality introduced to farmers from the view of the respondents and some of their personal characteristics. There were eight obstacles facing farmer were mentioned that was the scarcity of the number of agricultural extension agents with a percentage of 58.0 %، followed by lack of extension activities (50.4%). The results also showed that there are five proposals to improve level of extension service quality from viewpoint of farmers, the most important of which was scarcity number of agricultural extension agents with a percentage of 67.3%، followed by supporting production requirements and providing Soft loans for small farmers (51.8%).
