An Economic Study for Marketing Olive Crop in North Sinai Governorate

Abstract

The study aimed at recognition of marketing the olive crop in North Sinai Governorate through achieving several objectives, the most important: studying marketing functions and services of olive crop, studying the marketing methods used in the marketing olive, estimated marketing margins and distribution consumer’s profit of olive crop, estimated marketing efficiency of olive crop.; The important results: The olive crop is one of the most important of horticultural crops in North Sinai Governorate, area of olive reached 38 thousand Fedan, amounted to 30% of total horticultural areas in the governorate, which amounted to 126 thousand fedan during (2015-2021). Bir Al-Abed the First ranking about 6322 holder, amounted to 53.7% of the total number of holders of olive crop in North Sinai Governorate. used methods in marketing olive crop according to purchasing authority: dahia market in Al-Arish, Sheikh Zuweid market, Al-Masoura market in Rafah, and collection centers in Bir Al-Abed. The quantity produced in research sample amounted to 1266.23 tons, about 0.98 tons selfconsumption, at a rate 0.08% of total production, and the marketed quantity amounted to 1265.26 tons, representing about 99.92% of the total production. Farm price, total marketing costs, net profit margin of wholesaler's, and retailer's amounted to 78.96%, 10.89%, 5.13%, and 4.79%, of the consumer's pound respectively. The costs of harvesting crop ranked first in terms of relative importance about 51.81% of the total marketing costs. The marketing efficiency amounted to 49.61%, which indicates that there are opportunities to improve the efficiency of marketing system for olive crop.
