Abstract

The animal production sector in Egypt is facing a shortage in animal feed production and high prices. The Farm Income
Estimates Bulletin, 2022 estimated the annual average of feed production in Egypt during the average period (2002-2022) at about 75.65 million tons, of which about 58.39 million tons of feed. Green production at an estimated rate of 22.82% of the total average animal feed production. It was also estimated at about 9.93 million tons of dry feed, at a rate estimated at about 86.87%, and about 4.04 million tons of concentrated feed, at a rate estimated at about 94.20% of the total average animal feed production in Egypt, as the lack of feed leads to a feed gap. It also showed that the production capacity of factories amounted to about 4.9 million tons during the average period, as a result of the unavailability of some of the raw materials from which feed is made that is imported from abroad, despite the increasing number of factories. The research aimed to study animal feed by estimating the feed balance of (green) feed. , concentrated, dry)
There is a surplus of green fodder estimated at about 24.38 million tons during the average first period (2002-2011), A
surplus during the average period of the second period (2012-2022) of green fodder was estimated at approximately 23.11 million tons, (Mohamed, Hanan, 2014). It was also revealed that there was a deficit in dry and concentrated fodder during the average period of the first period, amounting to approximately 0.16 million tons and 9.43 million tons, respectively. The deficit in dry and concentrated fodder during the average second period was estimated at 3.23 million tons and 5.13 million tons, respectively.
