Abstract

.Food security is one of the most important mechanisms adopted by countries to reduce the severity of food dependency and its negative effects on economic activity. In this context, this study aims to measure the impact of public agricultural spending on food security in countries in the Middle East and North Africa region during the period from 2004 to 2021.
The study used Panel Data Analysis models to measure the impact of public agricultural spending on food security in
countries in the Middle East and North Africa region. The study concluded with a set of results, the most important of
which is that there is a statistically significant relationship between public agricultural spending and food security.
The study also recommended a set of recommendations, including that agricultural spending can improve the ability of
the agricultural sector to increase its production by providing financing, technology, and innovative agricultural practices. Increased production can also lead to the provision of larger quantities of food in the region and thus enhance food security. The study also recommended increasing general government spending on the agricultural sector by approximately 10% of total public spending.
